att: henry hanks Operation Life Raft

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Munshid told me, "They managed to row to the island in about 45 minutes time with a crew of six. Lots of people turned up to see them as a Maldives held number of activities to create awareness on our plight as a low lying nation."
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

The life raft is a conceptual performance based art piece made of more than 1200 empty PET water bottles. The mission is to row the raft from Male' (capital) to the International Airport (more than a km away) and exhibit the raft for a month. It will be approximately 15x7 feet and will carry a huge 350 logo on top.

It is to remind ourselves to think twice about how much waste we produce and the vulnerability of our fragile nation. It will also help create awareness in ways to reduce, reuse and recycle in order to achieve the 350 balance.

This will help as a reminder to everyone who is entering and departing the Maldives, mostly to those from developed countries to realize that their actions affect our existence. In addition, it will remind them how ever small and helpless we are as a nation, we Maldivians are ready to contribute in the global effort to save our beautiful planet.
