LAPD Kills 25 Year Old Woman

On Friday, October 16 around midnight an LAPD cruiser broadsided Devin Petelski's car resulting in her death.  The LAPD cruiser was headed east bound on Venice Blvd and Devin was at a stop sign on Glydon, attempting to turn right on Venice Blvd.  Eyewitnesses reported that the cruiser was speeding around 60-80 miles per hour with no emergency lights, no sirens, and no headlights!  There were also no skid marks, indicating the officers didn't try or didn't have enough time, to attempt to stop the car.  Two eyewitnesses, Zack and Krysta, saw the officers turn off their lights at Lincoln Blvd and were driving behind the cruiser at the time of the accident.  Zack was an off duty EMT, so he attempted to help Devin whose car had spun 180 degrees.  Eyewitnesses report that 10-14 police cars arrived quickly after the accident, but the ambulance which was coming from a 1/4 mile away, took 15 minutes to arrive.  Neighboring residents also report that they were threatened by the police offices and forced away from what the officers called a "crime scene."

The news has barely covered this story, other than to give brief reports of what the LAPD told them.  For example, the local CBS affiliate actually reported that Devin ran a red light, when there is none at that intersection.

The LAPD has not even apologized to the family as of yet, and claims to be investigating, but sent the witnesses away the night of the accident without getting their names or contact information.

There are also allegations that this a known practice of some of the LAPD to turn off their emergency and head lights, and race down Venice Blvd.

I do not know the accuracy of that, but I do know that there should be more focus on this story.  It has outraged any person that has heard it.  The LAPD should not be able to get away with killing an innocent girl because of there reckless and dangerous actions.  If it was a regular car instead of a cruiser that hit her, I imagine there would be more of an investigation and more reports on the situation.

Please get this story on the air, so that Devin receives justice.
