What if veterans had a stronger voice? |
Montgomery GI Bill For Veterans
I am hoping that someone at CNN can help with my situation. I am a veteran of the US Air Force, served 10yrs. I recently started school again after the announcement of the Post 9/11 GI Bill. The Bill is supposed to pay for school and help you with housing and books. I singned up for the new GI Bill on August 4th, supposedly the wait is around 6 weeks. I have yet to receive a dime. The director of the VA did give out emergency checks but that only goes so far when I have a house payment, daycare for two little ones, bills, food....the list goes on and on. I don't have any money to pay my bills or buy food. Every time I call the VA they tell me that someone is working on it and I should see the money some time soon. I've been hearing that for the past 2 months. There are no supervisors and no hardship cases. I can't wait any longer. I would have never quit my job and started school if I knew it would take this long. I have a ton of bills that are overdue and have now gone to my credit report, i'm drowning and no one wants to help. I have $26.00 in my account and daycare cost $240 a week, not to mention the rest of the bills. I am going to have to drop out of school and go back to work which defeats the whole purpose.
Can someone please look into this and help me.
Thank you,
Billie Campbell
