The Run Against AIDS Race through the streets of Nansana is on!

Its 9 km foot race through Wakiso's community in Uganda, will take place on 1 December 2009. The race has the full support of the Wakiso authorities and community.

The funds raised  from the race will go towards the construction of the first HIV/AIDS clinic in Wakiso, to treat people living with HIV/AIDS who cannot afford to travel to Kampala because of the illness.

We are officially beginning registration of local participants next week Monday 2nd November 2009.  International participants can register via the website after payment of the registration fee. Donations from well-wishers are also encouraged towards this noble cause.

Some companies have come out positively to support us. These include; Coca Cola (they will support us with tents, chairs, Public Address System), 3 Radio Stations, one organization which is an HIV/AIDS Project will support us by giving us space from their TV Programme, they will further assist us to organize a press conference, some are just pledging their support.

Nansana Town Council and Wakiso District will also support the event but they have not told us what. But the fact that the local authorities have issued us with all the necessary race permits, is reason enough that more is yet to come.

We have identified 4 registration points for the participants. These are with in our community; we are looking for one who can support us with the rewards, T-Shirts for the runners. One organization Uganda Cares; will give us 30 T-shirts for the Crew (Volunteers organizing the race), we are yet to pick them.

Our team is on ground visiting other organizations which will support us.

Excitement towards the day of the race is rapidly building with several local people and foreign volunteers working with local organizations.
