Fire continues in the minds of people: Puerto Rico Explosion Day 6
This clip was filmed in Puente Blanco, Catano, a residential area across the highway from the refinery where the explosions occurred. While the national/international attention is diminishing, the collective suffering of the affected population lingers.
The "barrio" is not the same. People are scared and startled every time they hear sounds such as lightening, windows have been blown out and much cleaning has to take place. Resettlement is the order of the day. Some people are experiencing stress reactions such as lack of appetite and withdrawal.
The American Red Cross is shown helping people upon their return from the shelter by providing clean-up kits and mental health support to those in need. It is the start of a new beginning.
