    Liberty Milestone-123 Years

Today marks the date of the dedication of the Statue of Liberty.  On Oct. 28, 1886, President Grover Cleveland was present for the first ticket tape parade, creating what became a grand New York celebratory tradition.

Sadly, today there was not much notice by the masses, thousands that crossed the Hudson.  Yesterday, as stated in the Daily News today, Lee Iacocca, who raised millions of dollars in rehabilitating and maintaining the statue had these words to share with us.

"The Statue of Liberty remains the most powerful symbol of America and is a figure to those around the world who continue to seek the freedom, hope and opportunity she represents.

In the aftermath of 9/11 our lives were forever changed. Lady Liberty was no exception. Now with the reopening of her crown to the public, we've once again acknowledged the close and personal relationship we have with America's beloved Ms. Liberty. May she continue to be an inspiration for generations to come"

My daily commutes can become boring when I take the Express Bus.  That is why most days I ride the ferry.   She has and always will fill me with inspiration.
