    Health Care Reform

    .

    Here is the link for how 5 or more other Countries do their Universal Health Care:

          I support a public option. If you don't like it you don't have to choose it.

          I copied and past here a part from an interview. (above)

         "Would you say that Germany has socialized medical care? No, it's not a socialized system, because you can pick your insurance, public or private. Many people can even opt out, and the sickness funds compete for members. You have free hospital or physician choice; there are very few limits on choice in the system. ... In a socialized system, everything is planned; in Germany, basically everything is open for nonprofit competition. << End of interview.

         Here a sample what Germans pay for this system.

    Here a sample what Germans pay for this system. This is a sample for a couple  with two kids and only one paycheck.

    Whole Year 2009     Monthly

    Salary:            Euro  36.000,00      Euro  3.000,00

    Income tax:    Euro   3.078,00      Euro    256,50

    Health Ins.:   Euro   2.646,00      Euro    220,50

    Long term:     Euro     351,00      Euro     29,25

    Retirement SS: Euro   3.582,00      Euro    298,50

    Unemployment:  Euro     504,00      Euro     42,00

    Paycheck:      Euro  25.839,00      Euro  2.153,25

    This stop with and income from app. EURO 5.750.-

    And some points.

    Germans get paid, when they are sick, over the whole time.

    Germans don't get bankrupt, when they get sick.

    Germans women stay home (paid), when they are pregnant, 6 week before labor and 8 week after.

          Despite fear mongering about government run health care, seniors aren't asking for their Medicare to be taken away. Quite the contrary. People with Medicare can choose between public and private plans that contract with Medicare and an overwhelming 80 percent choose Medicare's public plan over the privately contracted plans.  Read more at: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/donald-cohen/why-are-health-insurance_b_179317.html

          It's no wonder, though, that the Health Insurers are frantically trying to head off competing with a public plan. Private insurance overhead and profits eat up 20% and more of health care premiums while Medicare overhead (and no profit) is closer to 3%. There is big money to be made in health insurance. The top 7 "for profit" health insurers made a combined $12.6 billion in 2007-- an increase of 170.2% from 2003.           5.2 percent for public programs (3.1 percent for Medicare and 7.0 percent for Medicaid). The study found that administrative expenditures in the United States were four times higher than reported by NHE in 1999, or 31 percent of total health care spending, compared with only 17 percent in the predominantly government-run Canadian system. http://voicefortheuninsured.org/pdf/admincosts.pdf

          Also, if the private health industry continues a 31% administrative costs and income at $580 billion annually over the next 10 years, the health insurance industry would receive $5.8 trillion for administrative costs and income at current US health insurance industry premiums and health care costs (once again assuming no growth or reduction in the private health insurance and health care industries). http://www.democracyforamerica.com/groups/544-democracy-for-washington/blog_posts/28413-analysis-of-private-health-insurance-industry-2-trillion-%E2%80%9Csavings%E2%80%9D-proposal

          There is a great deal of room for cutting expenses in Healthcare. The lobbyists clearly have a hand in the government no negotiating the price of medications.

          Big Pharma Spends More On Advertising Than Research And Development, Study Finds ScienceDaily (Jan. 7, 2008) — A new study by two York University researchers estimates the

          U.S. pharmaceutical industry spends almost twice as much on promotion as it does on research and development,

    contrary to the industry’s claim.

    The researchers’ estimate is based on the systematic collection of data directly from the industry and doctors during 2004, which shows the

          U.S. pharmaceutical industry spent 24.4% of the sales dollar on promotion, versus 13.4% for research and development, as a percentage of US domestic sales of US$235.4 billion. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/01/080105140107.htm

          The pharmaceutical industry is not especially innovative. As hard as it is to believe, only a handful of truly important drugs have been brought to market in recent years,

    and they were mostly based on taxpayer-funded research at academic institutions, small biotechnology companies, or the National Institutes of Health (NIH). http://www.nybooks.com/articles/17244

          My friend Died because of the Negligence of a Doctor but here in California no one would sue the Doctor because it was not worth the $250,000 cap on liability as the legal fees would eat all that up; what about a 2 million cap?

          What about preventive care like going to the Gym? Safeway health care system was brought up several times at the Senate finance committee. Safeway saved 40% not 1% by giving lower health care premiums to employees that agreed to deal with, smoking, diabetes, obesity, and cholesterol.

    Current CBO letter:

      By David Lightman, McClatchy Newspapers David Lightman, Mcclatchy Newspapers   – Wed Oct 7, 7:09 pm ET

    WASHINGTON -- The Senate Finance Committee's health care overhaul effort got a boost Wednesday when the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that it would cost $829 billion and reduce the federal deficit by $81 billion over the next 10 years.

          That's good news for the committee and President Barack Obama , since the CBO reported not only that the measure meets their cost and deficit goals but also that 94 percent of eligible Americans could be expected to obtain coverage under it, up from the current 83 percent.

          About 23 million people would buy policies through new insurance exchanges, or marketplaces, in which they could comparison-shop for coverage, the CBO said, and about 14 million more would enroll in Medicaid , the state-federal program for lower-income people, and the Children's Health Insurance Program , as benefits and in some cases eligibility increased under the measure.

          About 25 million non-elderly people, about a third of them illegal immigrants, probably would remain uninsured by 2019, the CBO estimated. Unless the Government fixes Health care they will not be able to afford your unemployment benefits and the present Wars.

         The Governments policies resulted in Our present Depression that is expect to remain Jobs less for 4 to 10 years.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Deal

    When Franklin Delano Roosevelt took office on March  4, 1933, the nation was deeply troubled. Every bank in the nation had closed its doors and no one could cash a check or get at their savings.[1] The unemployment rate was 25% and higher in major industrial and mining centers. Farm prices had fallen by 50%. Mortgages were being foreclosed by tens of thousands. 2

         We already have 25 % unemployment in real terms.

      Unless we have a new Works Progress Administration

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Works_Progress_Administration

    Our present Depression will last more than 4 years for sure.

    =============================================================

       Until ended by Congress and war employment during 1943, the WPA was the largest employer in the country. Most people who needed a job were eligible for at least some of its jobs.[3] Hourly wages were the prevailing wages in each area;

    ============================================================

         Only the Government has the ability to create jobs at this point in Our Depression.

    We can not afford not to reform Healthcare, it is making this Country broke.

      It is also a moral issue; we can afford Healthcare much more than Our two wars.
