Midwest flooding |
Love at the U.S. Postal Service
I have officially been out for seven and a half hours working for Cedar Rapids relief efforts. Today I was at a sandbagging station in Southeast Cedar Rapids, and at the start of the day, around 10 AM, there were only about 10 volunteers and 6 enormous piles of sand. But as the day progressed, I would venture to say 100 people showed and the sand piles were virtually gone.
We also dropped sand at a small church where the people were just terrific! I am in awe of every Iowan I have seen pitch in these last few days.
