Tornado Watch Oklahoma and Texas – 29 October 2009 1:20 PM EDT

Synopsis – A line of strong to severe thunderstorms capable of damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes has developed over Oklahoma and Texas and will track eastward into Arkansas and Louisiana this afternoon.  The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for parts of Oklahoma and Texas.

Tornado Watch #781 has been issued until 6:00 pm CDT for portions of:

              Southeast Oklahoma
              Northeast Texas

The main threat will be tornadoes, hail to 1 inch in diameter, thunderstorm wind gusts to 80 mph, and dangerous lighting are possible in these areas.

Remember a Tornado Watch mean conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.  Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and be prepared to take shelter should a Tornado Warning be issued.
