    Salute to troops

    veterans day salute

October 8th, a cold, icy rain day, my stepfather Monite Storer was laid to rest at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Colorado. I want to salute the troops who helped lay him to rest. The active military who took the coffin to the service and then folded and presented the flag to my mother, those troops volunteered their time, going beyond the call of their active duty. I also want to salute the volunteers from the American Legion. These nine retired military came to give a 21 gun salute, played Taps, and spoke in a service about the duty served to one’s country. On veterans day, we all need to remember our active and past active troops, as well as those we’ve lost who once served our country.
