Warner Robins Election Heats Up
After the sudden death of long-time Warner Robins, Georgia Incumbent Mayor, Donald Walker Jr., the race for the position of mayor has reached an unprecedented level of excitement. After much growth and development to the city by Walker in his 15+ year term, this election is pivotal to the direction the city goes in the future. Three candidates, Chuck Chalk, Chuck Shaheen, and Clifford Holmes face off in what has been a highly contested race. The widow of the late mayor has thrown her support to the Chalk campaign giving him the upper hand going into the election. Chuck Shaheen also has a good chance of winning, being that he is the son of prominent and successful businesswoman, Barbara Shaheen, who has had an establishment in Warner Robins for decades.
Edit- With the results back in the race looks to be more exciting and close than once thought by the citizens of Warner Robins. Even with mayor Walker's widow supporting Chuck Chalk, he still trails Shaheen in the election. The results from last night are as follows:
Chuck Shaheen 38% (2269 votes)
Chuck Chalk 32% (1941 votes)
Clifford Holmes Jr. 29% (1724 votes)
A highly contested runoff is expected to heaten up between now and December 1st when Chuck Chalk and Shaheen attempt to sway the third candidate, Clifford Holmes Jr.'s votes their way. As soon as any developments happen this article will update.
