The New "Gay Race" Debate
Gays and gay rights supporters just love to draw parallels between their quest for legalized same sex marriage and the great American civil rights movement of mid 1900's, invoking memories of the injustice that was suffered by blacks in this country and predictions of future embarrassment "when the rest of us eventually and inevitably become as enlightened as them."
One small problem......
"Gay"....is NOT a new or unique race. The gay community is made of members from all races.
"Gay"...is NOT a new or unique gender. Both males and females can be homosexual.
Homosexuality is an abnormal (albeit naturally occurring), sexually deviant human behavior. Nothing more.
And before you all rush to shout out "Who are you to decide what is or is not 'ABNORMAL' ?", I have included the definition of both "abnormal" and "deviance" for your consideration.
abnormal - "not normal; deviating from the usual or typical"
deviance - "describes actions or behaviors that violate cultural norms including formally-enacted rules as well as informal violations of social norms."
Now.....as HUMAN BEINGS, gay people have, and deserve the SAME rights and protections as the rest of us. The right NOT to be beaten in a dark alley or persecuted for what they do behind closed doors in the privacy of their own homes for example. (I don't know why, but I always feel obligated to remind people that not agreeing with something is not the same as hatred or fear)
But AS equal members of the HUMAN race, gays are also bound by the same RULES as the rest of us.
A boy can't simply decide that he should be allowed to join the Girl Scouts, for example.
Demanding acceptance and recognition of their deviant behavior as "mainstream" from the masses is NOT a civil right or any other kind of right protect by the Constitution or any other legal document. And being denied the "RIGHT" to change the longstanding definition of marriage to suit your lifestyle is NOT oppression or discrimination.
God Bless America. (...and WAY TO GO YANKEES!)
