    Morning jog

This morning around 8 o'clock, I went to the Dothan Botanical Gardens for a jog. While jogging I passed by a steel statue holding a beheaded costume head of President Obama. The head was wired through a tree and covered in fake "blood". Prior to today's visit, my last visit to the Dothan Botanical Gardens was on October 30, 2009. The head was not there. I took pictures and went to the office manager of the garden. The office manager informed me that the head had been there for at least a month and no one had a problem with it. I explained how offensive it was and told her it should be taken down. The office manager told me it would not be taken down and stated it was not a costume head of President Obama. I asked her if it was the head of a minority, she explained that the head was of a "white" man and got tanned in the sun. The office manager called me "shug" and told me to have a great day. I left her office and walked back over to the statue. Within minutes the office manager rolled up to me with a maintenance man in a golf cart. The maintenance man tearfully apologized and stated that originally the head was in a burlap sack and apparently the sack was removed yesterday. He said the owner of the garden exchanged "words" with the people who placed it up and that Industrial Steel Works of Dothan would not be invited back to the garden and he would take the head down immediately. The maintenance man told me that he supported President Obama and was embarrassed by this display. I left the garden and returned around 3PM. When I returned the steel statue was on the ground and the head was removed. The signage indicating the local company responsible for the offensive "prank" was removed as well. What a jog!
