This iReport is part of an assignment:
Do you haunt graveyards? |
Catacombs
What do you think of when someone mentions a graveyard? Is it a plot of land with headstones lined up in rows, or is it huge stone monuments to loved ones and comrades? When I think of graveyards, the thought of "final resting place" pops into mind for me.
I had the privelage of traveling to Paris for a little sight seeing and managed to stop by the catacombs while I was there. The catacombs is the final resting place for many of the citizens of Paris during the 10th century. The entire underground is filled with the remains of the deceased, some organized into unique artwork.
