Taking Homeless Veterans to Lunch on Veterans Day
Veterans Day is coming up, this is just a reminder that not all our veterans are celebrated, some are overlooked, cold and hungry. One Veterans Day I took a few to lunch to hear their stories of how they went from serving the country to fighting heroin and other substance abuse addictions.
Little interesting fact, after this story aired, people left a shrine of tents and sleeping bags for the homeless veteran I interviewed off the freeway! It was great to see people actually care, even if only for a day.
What do you think of this story?
