    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     JamesCalder was staying at a hotel in El Salvador when he found out that his taxi was unable to reach his party due to the flooding. 'As the hotel staff tried to figure out a way to perhaps get us to the location of the taxi, we noticed a hotel security guard running near the closed front gate. As we looked, we could then see water coming through the gate which is when I began to shoot the photographs in my report.'

    Hello!  I'm James Calder from Washington DC and i'm in El Salvador.  I've just experienced the devastating flooding first hand.  I was part of a group of 21 Habitat for Humanity volunteers that had completed its week-long project building homes in Santa Ana.  We then travelled to the Costa Del Sol on the nation's coast for a much needed two days of recuperation. Early morning on Sunday, just hours before we were due to head for the airport to return to the US, the floodwaters hit.  Fortunately, none of the 87 guests or dozen staff at the hotel was hurt.  The attached photos tell the story as it developed.
