Salute to troops |
The Horror of War
- davidw, CNN iReport producer
Paris...November 11...Armistice Day.
Traditionally the people of France commemorate the end of World War I today...th war in which between 6 and 9 million were killed...
Americans .116,000
French: 1,399,000
German: 2,000,000
Russian: 4,800,000
The day should be a reminder of the horrors and not the glory of war....
In photo #5..children sing the French National Anthem..La Marseillaise...often and rightly criticised for its bellicose and war-like lyrics and for glorifying war in an attempt to rally its citizens around the flag.
Teach your children well...that they have a code they can live by...and that code could well be stated without glorifying war.
