This iReport is part of an assignment:
One thing to beat the recession |
Turning Money into a Game
As an Artist living day to day in NYC, it's necessary to become a Jack of Many Trades. With the already stale Gallery scene mired in a shrinking Economy, I have decided to forgo the dealers and sell my own work on Ebay.go to Auction
The first items up for bid are 52 Playing Cards, to be sold one at a time, every week for the next year. The auction began last week, and, with limited promotion, things started quietly, with the Ace of Spades going to a lucky fan for less than $100. read about it
I'm hoping that as the year progresses, the prices will rise. Whoever has the best hand at the end of the year gets the "Joker" for free, and earlier winners are encouraged to consider selling good cards later for a profit.see Ted's Art
I call the type of work I've been making MoneyMorphic because I'm lliterally turning small amounts of money into priceless artifacts for the archaeologists of the future, that they might gain a deeper, broader understanding of our financial predicament.
To invest in this art is to invest in one's future. As I continue to produce new work and gain publicity, the value of the art will continue to rise.
