Fort Hood shooting |
ANGRY WAR VETS DO NOT KILL PEOPLE
The next is to Art Howell, who runs a wildlife center in Amity, Maine (where I took the injured owl). I had Best Buy mail him a Flip video to help with his wildlife conservation work, and was wondering if he got it?
The next two videos are of lonely old me, watching the moon, and reflecting on the nature of the moon in Maine, as it affects me, as opposed to when I lived in NJ, where the moon was not so visible, because of all the ambient light. However, I had good psychiatric treatment at the VAMC in Philadelphia, and inadequate, and as of late, no psychiatric treatment, here in isolated, rural, northern Maine, along the Canadian border. In NJ, there were many people to have friendships with. Not so among the small population of rednecks in northern Maine.
I think that because of what Major Hassan did at Fort Hood, now people are paranoid about war veterans, and Muslims. I pointed out that FRATRICIDE in the military was quite common during Vietnam, and that we've only had a few vets go OFF THE RAILS recently, mostly still on active duty. During Vietnam, we had over a thousand fratricide murders, I think, and many students shot by police at Universities, most of them unsolved mysteries.
For a veteran to have compulsive revenge thoughts for many years after a war is NOT UNUSUAL. What is unusual is for him or her to act them out in a lethal, violent manner. Usually, vets withdraw in to depression, put themselves in hospitals, go out on disability, JUST HIDE THEIR ANGRY THOUGHTS, drink or use drugs (sometimes becoming homeless in the process, or ending up in jail as a place to live).
Nobody questions whether the decorated Dessert Storm, Army vet, who blew up the OK City building, wore a cross, or whether the soldier in Iraq that killed five soldiers in a psychiatric treatment center in Iraq wore a Christian cross, but everyone is now paranoid about Muslims. David Koresh wore a cross when he burned 40 some kids to death in Waco, but nobody got paranoid about evangelical Christians.
GO FIGURE! PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS LOOKING TO BE AFRAID OF SOME BOOGEYMAN, SOMEWHERE! It used to be black people, and gay people. Now, as those people seem more mainstream, people find other things to be afraid of. :)
PS I forgot! In northern Maine, people are still afraid of blacks and gays. :)
