Elderly Man Discharges Rifle in Rite-Aid Parking Lot
My town is normally relatively peaceful. It is in an isolated, rural area on the North Coast of California. Sure, we are not imune to serious crime which is usually drug related. But you can count the number of incidents per year on one hand. This week, the total count required the use of both.
Earlier this week, for reasons yet to be explained, a 76 year old man fired a rifle into the air and appeared to take aim at local law enforcement officials as they approached. The incident took place at 6 am in the parking lot of a local Rite-Aid located about a mile from my home. He was arrested for brandishing a firearm and llegal discharge of a firearm.
My real question is, what was a 76 year old man doing wandering around with a loaded rifle in the first place? Some of the readers tried to blame every thing from "Pelosi-care" to "bug-eyed neocons." Most agreed that the old guy was lucky to not have been killed during the incident.
