Flood 08 Cedar Rapids
A historic and catastrophic flood has finally crested and started to fall in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Some areas of downtown were under more than 10 feet of water. A railroad bridge collapsed downtown acting as a dam making the water even higher. Over 10,000 homes are currently without power. Over 25,000 have been evacuated. Hundreds are in red cross shelters. Water rations are in place as the metros water supply is at 25% of capacity. Over 430 city blocks are underwater with hundreds of streets and all but one bridge closed.
