This iReport is part of an assignment:
Losing a loved one to suicide |
Suicide and depression
I have never attempted suicide or have a family member or friend commit suicide. However, I have attended group sessions with suicidal people. Sometimes depression takes over rational thinking and can lead to these thoughts. We need to be aware of those around us asking for help. There are usually signs of depression such as lack of interest in things or lack of energy. Sleep patterns also change as possible anxiety sets in. Survivors of suicide usually are glad they did not die and with proper counseling can go on to lead productive lives. The key is to seek help as soon as you start feeling or noticing things are different. Everyone can be suicidal given the right circumstances and lack of hope.
