Winter Storm Continues to Drop Swow for the Rockies and into the Plains

Colorado / New Mexico / Kansas – Winter Storm: A low pressure system moving over the Four Corners region this morning and tracking to Oklahoma by this evening, will continue to bring heavy snow at times for much of Colorado, northern New Mexico and then into Kansas tonight and Monday. Total snow accumulation of over a foot for the mountains and 6 to 12 inches for the Denver metro and Plains region. Snow will be ending by this afternoon for Colorado and ramping up for western and central Kansas. Snow will continue through Monday for Kansas with an expected 4 to 8 inches of accumulation.
As this system continues to track eastward, there is a possibility of severe winter weather for eastern Kansas late Monday and Tuesday.
The main threat from this storm will be hazardous / dangerous winter driving conditions, especially along I-70 and I-25 in Colorado. Expect delays and / or road closures.
Winter Strom Warningis in effect for the mountains of Colorado, Denver metro and plains, and northern New Mexico through Sunday at 5 pm. Western Kansas warning expires Monday morning.
Winter Storm Watchis in effect for central Kansas and parts of south central Nebraska. Expect these watches to be upgraded to winter storm warnings or downgraded to winter advisories later today.
