This iReport is part of an assignment:
Sound-off |
Bin Laden already WON.
Osama Bin Laden vowed to take down the US economy when he declared War on America. His terror attack in 2001 was directed at the World Trade Center, a hub of international commerce. Two planes for the Trade Center, one for the Pentagon, and one for possibly the White House or Capitol Building. We may never know if another cell(s) chickened out during the mission, but we can see the importance placed on the commerce side of things as half the effort went into one complex of buildings. I believe the political targets were designed more for the terror factor than an actual attempt to get high level people. Bin Laden knew that our money is what makes us powerful, not our bombs. Our economic influence in the world produces more pain for him than anything. This was never a conventional fight, but one of wit. Fortunately for us we had W as a leader to match wits with (that's sarcasm for the mentally impaired).
Osama's hatred for us goes back to the Reagan days when we paid and armed Bin Laden to fight the Soviets in Afghanistan. When we were done with him, we just turned our backs on him. You know, the good old GOP a-hole attitude toward foreign policy. This isn't the main sticking point though. He, like many Muslims, hates Israel with a passion. Our unwavering support for Israel has angered most of the Middle East and especially Islamic Extremists like Osama Bin Laden. We still have strong ties with the Saudi's who ejected him from his home country, so I'm sure that didn't fuel any fires.
OBL is sitting in a cave somewhere just laughing it up. He never thought W would make it so easy for him to accomplish his goal of collapsing our economy. You take away our economy and you take away our influence and our big stick. 9-11 was not just an attack on the World Trade Center and our economy in 2001. It was bait. He baited us into Afghanistan where he took down the only other Superpower of the time, so why not make it happen again? I'll bet Bin Laden never counted on Iraq, as there was never an Al Qaeda presence in Iraq until we invaded. W just handed him the fight when he split our forces and began dumping money into both Wars. I'll bet Bin Laden never expected Ws out sourcing policies, allowing the Latino invasion of our labor force, allowing the banks to operate with no rules, and all the rest of the economic stupidity that ultimately led to the Great Recession and a near collapse of the World Economy. How could W out do Osama at his own game, but to himself (ourselves)? As a reaction to OBL, W actually played right into his hand and used his redneck hot headedness against himself as it clearly was his decision making mechanism. Proud rednecks across the county still applaud Ws valor, but just like our parents told us when we were kids...anger and hate will cloud your mind. Calm down and THINK! Not once did the GOP calm down and think. They just made one rash decision after another as if the timeline of the decision was way more important than the quality of the decision.
Thank you W for your patriotism and your predictable hill billy mentality. OBL got in your head and psyched you out and we the people get to pay for it. I'm glad Obama is not the type to rashly jump to conclusions or make decisions out of anger. I appreciate weighing all the options before committing even more money and lives to Afghanistan. It's not just a decision about killing Taliban, we've been there since 2001. We need a real game plan to go along with a troop decision. Without access to Pakistan, we'll never kill them all conventionally. Personally, I would like to see more troops, but the situation is too complex and I certainly am not privy to the classified information necessary to make the call and neither are YOU.
