Beware of Formaldehyde and Go Green
Formaldehyde is a nearly colorless gas found in many home products that is harmful to our health. Insecticides and disinfectants are some of the more common household items found to have formaldehyde. It is a carcinogen and can cause health problems. Some symptoms may include coughing, skin rashes, asthma-like symptoms, eye, nose and throat irritation. People with asthma and young children should take extra precaution with home products made with formaldehyde because they may be more sensitive to it. Cigarette smoke is also a major source of indoor formaldehyde. One of many reasons to ban smoking from your home and cigarettes entirely.
Opt for more health and eco-friendly home products. Make sure to read the labels before you purchase them. Items that read No VOCs or low VOCs are also a smarter choice. I like to stick to DIY recipes to clean my home. 3% hydrogen peroxide works wonders and is the preferred choice of hospitals. It kills germs and "bleaches" the natural way by oxidation without emitting harmful fumes. Vinegar and baking soda are also a better alternative.
Whichever method you choose. Make the greener choice. Not only does it help our environment, but it's better for our health. And, nothing is more important than good health.
