Chicago's deadly streets |
Who really cares about the killing of a 9-year old?
Post asserts that many of us will learn about the killing of a 9-year old boy named Oscar Fuentes in his own apartment but few will really care after a few days, if not hours. There will be stories and people something "Something has to be done" but then most of us will do nothing. Case in point: most people have already forgotten the name of the high school honor's student killed on video in Chicago. We did our collective gasps and brought in the cameras. After a week, it was back on to Sarah Palin or Hillary Clinton, or the balloon boy saga (who is still in the news this week). If we really cared, we would take more action in our communities as opposed to armchair complaining about the ills of society. Most of us don't care as long as it doesn't happen to someone we know. We have to and must do better. By the way, his name was Derrion Albert...
