Why be "God-fearing?"
Here's a question to the religious right out there, or any Christai fundamentalist:
Why is it so important, and why you are so proud to label yourselves as "God-fearing?" If you believe that God is love, and that He loves all people and things (even the ones you despise in your misguided and sacriligious judgments against others), then why is it so important to list the negative emotion of FEAR at the very top of the list?
Why are you not instead God-loving? Or even God-trusting? I just seems retarded to me, as do most issues of blind faith. "God-fearing" conjures up images in my mind of people cowering in fear of God's vengeance, like you might suffer a sudden bolt of lightning, or an earthquake, or any other completely natural phenomenon, just because you did something that manifested an illogical fear.
Can someone shed some light on this for me?
