BACK IN THE USA: THE NEW BUICK REGAL!
Los Angeles, November 2009: The Regal is back in the U.S.A.!
In Los Angeles, Buick revealed the highly anticipated new 2011 Regal sport sedan. The new Regal will arrive in the second quarter of 2010, with its sights aimed squarely on competitors including the Acura TSX and Volvo S60. The 2011 Buick Regal was developed by the same German led engineering team that created the Insignia – the best selling midsize sedan in Europe, and European Car of the Year. The North American Buick Regal ended production in 2004.
The Regal has achieved great success in China, where it went on sale in December 2008, selling more than 64,000 vehicles. Enthusiastic customers cite its sculpted, flowing design and responsive performance as the top reasons for purchase. The average Regal driver in China is just 36 years old.
The 2011 Buick Regal will be the only sport sedan in its class with the Interactive Drive Control System (IDCS) with turbo.
The estimated fuel economy for the Regal is 30 mpg on the highway with the 2.4L and 20 mpg highway with the 2.0L turbo engine.
Despite its absence in U.S. showrooms for the past six years, the Regal remain the Buick’s most recognized nameplate by consumers. Janine Sharell has more for the CNN iReport.
