This iReport is part of an assignment:
Light up Nigeria |
To light or not to light Nigeria
Traveling across Nigeria is challenging even with the little light there is. Roads are in poor condition and some known as "suicide alley" because of the high rate of accidents. Border crossing are scary in the dark, chickens are transported alive, tied to the car because of lack of refrigeration. Safety signs at the gas stations warn one to "run for your life" if there is a fire. Nigerians should have some of the best infrastructure in the world because of the resources mainly oil and gas. So why is it that millions of Nigerians are left in the dark, forced to drive on poorly maintained roads and live a life of poverty. LIghts wont solve their problems but it may shed some light on the situations
