I’m disappointed in you Google Wave!
Now that I’ve had the chance to fiddle around with Google Wave I’ve been noticing how difficult it is to learn and adjust to. Google Wave’s 1 hour and 20 minute Developer Preview video was exciting enough to watch that I dropped my email address in to be sent an invitation when Google started rolling out their public invites - which I excitedly received a little more than a week ago.
Disappointed… YES! What an understatement. And it seems that I’m not the only one who is confused and disappointed with the new platform that resembles too much of an email client or chatting live via instant messaging except getting a grip on Waving is much more complicated than sending a simple email or having a live discussion with a friend online.
Now I’m completely aware that this is just a “preview” with some restrictions on what Google Wave can really do, but as of now Google Wave has been nothing but an utter disappointment. There was all this talk about Google Wave blowing Facebook and other sites out of the networking waters, where do people come up with these ideas? I love technology, heck I’ve even fixed a broken car stereo, hooked up my parents surround sound system, and removed viruses from my friends computers, and I still cant get a handle on Google Wave let a lone all my Facebook friends, family members or some co-workers who might find it use full for online meetings. And you won’t see me paying to attend any Google Wave training seminars that’s for sure.
So for now, my Google Wave account is pretty much in hibernation along with the others I’ve Waved with. I don’t see what all the buzz is about enough to keep putting forth the effort of staying on Google Wave’s unstable and complicated surf board.
