Stories from Second Life |
President Sarah Palin HQ in Second Life
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer
President Sarah Palin, a group in Second Life, launched their new headquarters with exciting political surprises. President Sarah Palin group owner, Angelocracy Xue, casually tipped off iReporters on Monday announcing "for those who cover politics, Sarah Palin Group's HQ
http://slurl.com/secondlife/Baikal/232/238/92" Of course I jumped on the big scoop!
Picture 1 is the cover of Sarah Palin's new book "Going Rogue," which is expected by all to be a best seller. But just in front of Sarah's poster at her SL HQ is a poster for Neda Agha-Soltan, a 20 something Iranian woman who was gunned down in cold blood by thugs from the Iranian regime in Tehran last summer at the peak of the vote fraud riots. Angelocracy explains "Sarah Palin has always supported the freedom movement in Iran." Picture 2 shows an Iranian Flag which declares "Democracy Now for Iranian People." I found this very surprising.
Picture 3 shows Sarah Palin with American and Israeli flags, a strong show of support for that international alliance. Also at Sarah's SL HQ is an awareness campaign for the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children, a poster sponsored in SL by Siann Beck. The poster displays missing children portraits, and is copy-able for placement on your SL sim (right click... More... Take Copy).
Picture 5 is a video playing at President Sarah Palin HQ. Rock the Vote celebrity Christina Aguilera provides the music track "Here to Stay" to the Palin promotional video playing in Second Life. Clint Eastwood also provides some movie clips for this video from Million Dollar Baby, featuring Oscar Winner Hillary Swank (Picture 6). Christina's track on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HigtCa0qMFc
Picture 7 is another political curiosity, kind of a taunt at the end of the video, directed at "media blogger hacks that have become experts at yellow journalism..." Picture 8 and 9 show some Christian imagery and displays at the President Sarah Palin HQ in SL.
I spoke with a few others, who were mystified by the news about President Sarah Palin. Resident jpw322 Hellershanks was thrilled that CNN iReports was covering this story, but equally in the dark about this HQ as Rene Swords, who is one of the 48 members in the President Sarah Palin SL group. Even Siann Beck was surprised and shocked that her poster ended up in such a place. Interestingly, President Sarah Palin members seem to be members of The Grand Old Party or NRA or both, and many are Star Trekkers.
