Hole in the wall and Mitchell caverns
I flew out to my house in Arizona this weekend to avoid the snowstorm predicted in my Colorado neighborhood. While out there I decided to do some exploring.
I drove across the border into California and the Mohave National preserve. I love driving in the desert. You can see so far. The roads are many times straight and you can just cruise at 100 MPH and still take in the scenery.
I visited Hole in the Wall which is a volcanic formation and Mitchell caverns (less than 10 miles away which is a limestone cave. it's interesting to have such diversity in geologic formations so close to each other. There were interesting slot canyons in hole in the wall.
At Mitchell caverns the ranger, Ranger Mike was very funny and gave a great tour. I had a great time.
