This iReport is part of an assignment:
Breakthrough Women |
Books for Kids throughout the world
Today I received an email from a friend saying: " i think you're a breakthrough woman & i think you should nominate yourself for what you're doing with books4gaza!!! :)"
My name is Rebecca Herrera and I am trying to raise 15,000 books for the students of the American International School in Gaza. I put the program together in January of this year (after a night of insomnia and a piece on the aftermath in Gaza) and as of right now we've raised about 9,000 books. We are also working on raising the money to ship the books from Colorado to Gaza Strip.
We;ve received donations from many people from all over the US and are actually looking to expand the project. I will be submitting our Form 1023 to apply for 501(c)(3) tax exempt status under the name 'Books for Youth Internationl' later this year, or early next year. We really hope to help all those children , at home and abroad, get better access to educational materials.
Our websites are www.books4gaza.weebly.com and www.books4youthint.weebly.com.
Thank you to everyone who has helped us along the way.
