"We're Fired Up, Can't Take No More".. UCLA Students Chant
For days UCLA students have been in an uproar over possible increase in tuition. Fourteen student were arrested Nov.18th when protesting got out of control. Today the decision was made by the Board of Regents. I was there when they announced that the 32% increase was approved. Outraged, frustrated and fearful for their education students continued their protest. Students were bussed in from all over the UC campuses including; UC Berkeley, UC Santa Cruz, and UC San Diego. All ten UC campuses will be affected by this increase in tuition. Protests were held all over the UC campuses, throughout California. The police were surrounding all areas of the campus armed with; tasers, pepper bullets, bean bags, and batons. They made sure the protest didn't get out of control. Students were passionate about their fight, chanting, "They Say Cut Backs, we Say Fight Back" one of many messages they were trying to convey....arm in arm students, continued making their feelings known, at the same kept it a nonviolent protest. They are concerned that it will become too difficult to continue their education.
