This iReport is part of an assignment:
iReport for CNN |
Jorge Steven López Mercado
On November 13, 2009 Jorge Steven López Mercado was murdered in a gruesome manner in Puerto Rico. He was killed because he is gay. Interesting that I had to get this information from Lambda Legal website instead of the regular news sources. What's the matter CNN, is this not news worthy? That a 19 year old man was decapitated and dismembered is not news. How about the fact that perhaps this will be the first case to be tried under the new Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Act, is that not news? This practice of agenda setting by the media needs to change and the LGBT community will see to that.
