Salzburg Dom Cathedral
Our family traveled to Germany (Heidelberg and Baden Baden) and Austria (Salzburg and Vienna) last February for skiiing and sightseeing. The photos are from Salzburg and surroundings. Salzburg in the winter was beautiful. The Dom Cathedral at night with the snow was a magical picture. The farmers market on Saturday with the myriad of meats, cheeses and fruit was so much fun to walk through and sample. When we'd get cold we could run into a cafe to warm up on tea and coffee. The skiing in nearby St. Johann in Tirol was spectacular. We brought cross country and telemark skies and skiied the miles of free groomed trails one day and then spent a couple of days on the slopes. Our three kids (ages 4-13) had a blast. We toured the Hohensalzburg castle looking out above Salzburg and walked along the paths that run the length of the Monchsburg mountain. The childrens theater was superb even if we didn't catch all of the German. Just a wonderful place to go in the winter.
