How to save cities and postal service money...
The following are ideas to possibly save cities, states, and the postal service money. As some would say in business, out of 200 ideas, 2 may be doable.
What would happen if mailboxes and trashcans to be placed on one side of a given street? One side of residential streets could begin no parking ordinances. The mailboxes and trashcans would be placed on the same side where cars are prohibited to park on that side of a given street. This may save time for trash and mail service so they will not have to drive around parked cars. Obviously, this could not be done on busy streets or when the streets are ice or snow covered. Would this save cities, states and the postal service time and money to have their trucks pick up trash and mail running only once per street?
In some locations up North, cities are plowing snow once per street. These snowplows would use plows that are big enough to cover the whole street instead of the standard plow that only covers each way of a street. However all cars would have to be removed from these streets for the snowplow to cover these streets once. Perhaps more cities should begin plowing whole streets once to save cities money and time for this service. In addition, if the streets are cleared faster; the trash and mail service could begin their services in less time.
Are these concepts doable to save cities, states and the postal service money? Or should these concepts be tabled?
