This iReport is part of an assignment:
"New Moon" mania |
How much eye-candy can we pack into a single film?
I will admit that the Twilight series is one of my guilty pleasures. And I was definitely at the theatre for the midnight release last night, along with all of the screaming tweens. Here's my review of the film, which may contain spoilers.
The Acting:
Everyone has improved from the first film! EVERY characters. Especially Taylor, he shined in this movie. Not only because he was ripped and gorgeous (have to remind myself that he's 17).
The Cinematography:
I felt like there were a few faux-indie-film effects in this movie that just rubbed me the wrong way. The one scene I can think of is Bella's several months of depression during which a camera was slowly spinning around her. That could have easily been cut down, made less cheesy, and left room for other, more important scenes.
Ashley Greene:
I want to devote a little section to one of my favorites in the series. Alice was my fave in the book, and Ashley is just perfect. She shines, really, but they made her look kind of frumpy in the outfits in this one!
The Pacing:
The movie moved a little slow in the beginning. I felt like there was a lot of extra fluff that was not necesary - might have been great in the book, but did not add very much to the film. Again, the spinning around and the seasons scene. Also, Edward leaving her took a lot longer than it should have. Her laying in the forest took too long. I know it was supposed to be dramatic, but... Meh.
My biggest gripe with Twilight/New Moon:
There was a lot of love in the books, and I'm not feeling that in these movies. Kristen rarely smiles! I want to see more happiness and love when things are good. Yeah, she should be upset when things are bad, but things should be happy when they're good!!!!!
The ending:
Cliffhangers (sort of). Gotta' love 'um.
So... If you're a fan of half-naked dudes and romance, go see it. If you liked Twilight, then New Moon will probably impress you. Otherwise, just turn a blind eye and ignore our screaming and swooming. ;)
PS!
Did anyone notice Rob's nipples? I mean, I love the dude, but... Uh... Yeaaaaah.
