Schools in trouble |
Keeping them honest...
I am a third year double major in Art and Environmental Studies at UC Santa Cruz. I am extremely upset at the inaccurate portrayals of the strikers. Kerr Hall was occupied on campus and the students were unable to clean up the mess after being told to leave by administrators and police. 75 of the protesters and a local fraternity offered to return the space to its original condition, however the administration turned them down. Also, even though the protesters were nonviolent, riot police and attack dogs were sent on students. One teacher was knocked off a balcony as the police made their way to the building but the administrators sent out an email blaming it on the protesters. I would just like to encourage accurate fact checking here. It is clear that the UC is very powerful and it is going to make it very difficult for us to get the honest word out and stand up for ourselves. Please share these facts so people have a more accurate view of what is going on here. I have attached a picture of myself.
