Western Pacific – Typhoon Nida:Located approximately 265 miles south of Guam with winds of 75 mph, this storm is expected to continue to track northwestward while slowly intensifying. No immediate threat however interests on Guam should monitor this storm as it passes to the south.
Philippines – Tropical Depression 27W: Located 35 miles north of Mindanao, Philippines with winds of 25 mph, this storm will be a rainmaker for the southern Philippines as it tracks westward and weakens. Southern Philippines can expect isolated flooding and mudslides from this storm. This will be the only and final advisory on this storm.
Indian Ocean – Madagascar – Tropical Cyclone Bongani: Located approximately 210 miles northeast of Antisiranana, Madagascar with winds of 45 mph, this storm is expected to track to the west-southwestward and slowly strengthen to a typhoon within 48 hours. Bongani should skirt northern Madagascar and then enter the Mozambique Channel and make landfall as a weak typhoon Thursday along the northeast coast of Mozambique.
Threats & Damages: For northern Madagascar, expect heavy rains triggering isolated flooding. For northeastern Mozambique, expect widespread flooding and mudslides due to heavy rains, some coastal flooding, minor to moderate structural damage, and damage to the infrastructure.
South China Sea - Vietnam: A low pressure area located approximately 280 miles southeast of HO Chi Minh, Vietnam shows signs of consolidating and has a good chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 24 hours. Interests in the region should monitor the progress of this storm and take action if warranted.
