    TO GIVE THANKS

    To Give Thanks

I am thankful for having my health and that those that I love are also healthy. As a nurse I am fully aware that this is one of the biggest blessings that can be bestowed on anyone.  Never take it for granted. You can lose it suddenly and without warning.

I am thankful for those that I love and love me back.

I am thankful for having my mind.

I am thankful for having a job.

I am thankful for having a home.

I am thankful for my loving and humorous pets.

I am thankful for having the humbling opportunity of being a MOM.

I am thankful for having a wonderful man, lover, friend, who makes me laugh and has never tried to change me.

I am thankful for being financially stable in these horrible times.

I am thankful for learning early in life what vocation made me happy and being able to be a nurse.

I am thankful for having traveled.

I am thankful for my multi cultural family.

I am thankful for living in a safe, calm town where everybody knows your name.

I am thankful for the friends I have.

I am thankful for all the wonderful, diverse people that I have had the opportunity to get to know here on Ireports….

I am especially thankful for having the opportunity to have taken the first picture…..

That is four generations of women in my family.

On the far left is my grandmother who passed away this 9/11 at the age of 97 and lived independently with all of her faculties until she passed. She raised me the first 9 years of my life. Without her I would have been put in an orphanage…..and she gave me the foundation and strength to deal with some of the emotional and psychological abuse that I would endure later in my childhood.

I am grateful for the massive stroke that took her suddenly and painlessly.

The woman next to her is my mother….

Who I had a much more complicated relationship with….

Who has also passed away, in March of 2007.

I am grateful that she taught me all the things that could possibly affect a young woman’s psyche and self esteem…and in turn I was able to be a better parent because of it.

I am thankful that she was able to financially take care of my daughter’s future education and had a healthy and sweet relationship as a grandmother. May she be rest in peace.

I am both Thankful and Grateful for all I have. I take nothing for granted. I know that life may change on a dime come tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving and may ALL of you find something to be Thankful for……

The second picture is of my dog Chuck when he was a pup.

He is a Great Dane...and much bigger now. But his joy for the simple things in life has not changed. Nothing like a nap in the sun on a beautiful fall day. He knows what is important and is forever grateful, even at 185 lbs......He has life down right.
