    1000+ UC Irvine students march on campus to protest fee hikes. Police activity increases.

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     gmangoman told me, 'We marched to the front door of our Admin building and were denied entrance. A police barrier was set up. After peacefully protesting, calling it an end, the leaders of the march went to a side door before it was barricaded off, letting two people inside. They went around asking for Chancellor Drake but he wasn't there.'

    A peaceful protest around the ring road of UC Irvine against the fee hikes of 32% by the UC Regents last Thursday turns sour when the UCIPD detain a graduate student within the Administration building that is now barricaded from within.

     

    Tension is increasing across every UC campus due to the 800 million dollar cut from the California state budget.
