Thanksgiving with a twist |
International Thanksgiving in Mexico
We just finished our Thanksgiving Dinner in Mexico... For our international guests it was their first Thanksgiving!
As Ex-patriots living in Mexico, we do Thanksgiving a little differently from the traditional style.
On the vegetarian menu: Sushiwith wasabi, gnocchi, gazpacho, Jamaica tea, sauerkraut. A new item for the non-gringos was the "ants on a log", which is celery with fresh ground peanut butter and raisins on top.
The diners represented seven countries: Mexico, the USA, Canada, France, Italy, Germany and the UK. Each person around the table told the others of something they were thankful for. For the afternoon, we will will enjoy a wood-fired sauna, and then hang around the campfire as the night gets colder.
