    Obama's Afghanistan decision

I think President Obama is doing a big mistake by sending out more troops to Afghanistan. I thought that lessons learned after war on Iraq .... but apparently it did not! War and more troops are not the solution to this conflict. How about someone takes some time and read a history book about this complicated area and its unique culture- through its military history two great powers the United Kingdom and the Soviet Union failed there, and it’s the fact now. Let’s not think power as much and think sustainability. As an alternative, Lets identify and work with moderates Afghanis on the ground instead of appointing them to power as the case of Hamid Karasai. They lose legitimacy and power to influence their people then and yet we complain about their corruption as the case in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The fact that we are here in Canada rethinking our role in the war and our involvement with the US Lead alliance troops is a reflection of a greater pressure from public opinion to bring troops home among most Western countries, and I would argue it is the fact in the US as well. I am very  disappointed in President Obama’s decision which counter what he promoted himself as a wise anti-war leader that recently was awarded Nobel Peace Prize.
