Should Republicans be trying to sell political 'purity'?

My God, has anyone else seen this?

    http://caffertyfile.blogs.cnn.com/2009/12/01/should-republicans-really-be-trying-to-sell-the-idea-of-purity/

“It seems the ultra conservative Republican party doesn’t like bipartisanship. In fact, if a republican doesn’t adhere to a specific and limited set of rules, the “morally right” GOP wants to halt any and all campaign funding.”

"According to the resolution, any Republican candidate who broke with the party on three or more of these issues—in votes cast, public statements made or answering a questionnaire—would be penalized by being denied party funds or the party endorsement. The proposed resolution was signed by 10 Republican national committee members and was distributed on Monday morning. They are asking for the resolution to be debated when Republicans gather for their winter meeting."

“On a related issue, some members of GOP are pushing a purity test to determine which candidates deserve their party’s support; talk about your playing with fire. If they don’t wanted candidates who can pass their test, they obliviously don’t want moderate Democrats voters who vote for GOP candidates since any Democrats would be left of the GOP moderates they are targeting.”

In the fallout of the nomination of “RINOs” (Republicans In Name Only) in recent elections, the Republican leadership has decided to release a list of 10 issues that candidates must agree with (at least 80%) if they wish to receive party endorsements and financial backing. Hoping to avoid another candidate like Dede Scozzafava from running under the Republican banner, the sponsors of this resolution hope they can field Reaganesque candidates for the 2010 election. I think they are going to be disappointed.”

If it seems wrong, it’s because it is. If it seems corrupt, it’s because it is. If it seems tyrannical or fascist, well, that’s because it is.

It seems the GOP wants to eliminate and all and competition, even from within their own party, so they’ve begun to cannibalize themselves.  For moderate republicans, those who hold republican and conservative ideals yet still see merit in negotiations and deliberation for the betterment of Americans, this is not only a slap in the face by a direct threat from their party leaders.  “Play by our rules or we’ll destroy you”

I’d like to hear from the more centralist republicans on this site. I’d like to know how, exactly, this new push from the GOP is being received by Log Cabin Republicans and even conservative Republicans that find themselves in the crosshairs by their own party.  The Republican house is divided. These “Moralistic Sovereigns” sit upon their home-made thrones in their palaces that were bought and paid for by the public of America and throw edicts such as this to their own party?  Are the Republicans going to stand for this or are they going to fight back?

Notice this: one of the mandates is “opposing President Obama's so-called "government run" health care plan” – a clear and distinct gesture against the health plan for America and yet they have the audacity to insist the plan is moving forward with no input from the GOP? How can there be any input when one’s entire stance is defiance at all cost?

Republicans – you need to get your house in order before we end up with a Theocratic Empire on our hands, essentially destroying everything our nation and our constitution was founded upon.

Dems can’t fix it for you. It’s up to you and you alone.
