A Town Hall Christmas
In the village of Mendon, Ohio (population 638) located in northwest Ohio, the Mendon Town Hall Christmas 11th Annual Festival of Trees was held December 4th - 5th, 2009 in the Historic Mendon Town Hall. Area businesses and residents decorated over 80 Christmas trees, each displaying a different theme. Constructed in 1903 at a cost of $12,000, the Town Hall was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The upper floor of the hall served as a theater, complete with a balcony, stage and dressing rooms. The stage backdrop curtain, last painted in 1930, still features original advertising from local merchants. The theater maintains much of it's character, with wooden seats and numbers painted on the sloped flooring marking the aisle location.
