Empower Orphans
I am 15 years old and have started my own non-profit organization (Empower Orphans - www.EmpowerOrphans.org). I started working with orphaned and underprivileged children when I was 9 years old.
High level achievements:
· Focused on community service in the area of child advocacy – founded Empower Orphans, a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization. www.empowerorphas.org
· Empower Orphans endeavors to create self sufficiency among vulnerable children through education and overall well being, enabling them to become productive members of society. Raised over $250,000 in cash and kind, positively impacting the lives of over 15,000 orphaned and underprivileged children both in India and the United States in the areas of education and healthcare.
o Projects focused on education:
i. Established five libraries with 15,500 books at an orphanage and under privileged schools in India and US
ii. Set up two computer lab at under privileged schools in India
iii. Started a science center at an Indian school for under privileged children
iv. Founded a sewing center (30 sewing machines) at an under privileged school in India. This center enables young women and girls to learn a skill, facilitating their ability earn a living and stand on their own feet.
v. Sponsored the education of 50 children
o Projects focused on healthcare:
i. Convened an Eye and Dental clinic that benefited over 360 under privileged children in India.
ii. Collaborated with PA State Representative Todd Stephens to provide toys for Mission Kids Montgomery County, PA (center for sexually abused kids)
iii. Worked with Proctor and Gamble to provided diapers to over 5000 children in Bucks County, PA
iv. Teamed up with St. Mary’s Hospital Community Outreach Program to furnish over 30 apartments for underprivileged families in Bucks County, PA

· Global winner of The World of Children Award (2011) – the Nobel Prize for child advocacy
· National winner (2011) Kohls Cares Scholarship
· President's Volunteer Service Gold Award (2011)
· Great Friend to Kids Award (2010) - Please Touch Museum (Philadelphia, PA)
· Philadelphia 76ers Hometown Hero (2010)
· Prudential Spirit of Community Award (2009)
· Wachovia Philanthropic Award (2008)
· Finalist for Philadelphia Inquirer Citizen of the Year (2008, 2009)
