This iReport is part of an assignment:
Wintry weather near you
Iowans snowed in by blizzard pt. 2 of 2
After approximately 12+ inches of snow, fierce winds cause travel difficulties in central Iowa. Drifting snow and dangerous wind chills along with the powdery stuff has made clean up of roadways, driveways, and even sidewalks a trivial effort. Winds have blown over 45 mph and creating wind chills of -25 at times. These photos show my parking lot and I-80 that runs directly behind m complex in West Des Moines, IA. Typically the interstate would be very full at 8:00 am, but only one vehicle every 30 seconds has been passing by either direction. Although plowed at least twice already, the parking lot is impassable for some. Even the snow blowers have been abandoned. Photographs by Clarence Smith.
