Queen Mary Lights Holiday Tree and Opens Skating Rink
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer
The Queen Mary annual tree-lighting is a Long Beach holiday tradition. This year’s tree stretches 20 feet tall, and its lighting was feted with food, drink, snowfall and performances by the Long Beach International Children’s Choir as well as carolers and a steel drum band. For the first time, ice-skating on the ship’s Verandah Deck.
Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster and Queen Mary General Manager Uwe Roggenthien lit the tree as hundreds of community members gather to count down. As well as Long Beach's first TweetUP.
Lights and holiday festivities will remain every day and evening Dec. 9 though Dec. 30.
