    Shots Fired in Times Square

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     sjunat55 was there just minutes after a shooting took place. New York Police Department Deputy Commission Paul Browne told CNN that an armed street salesman fired two shots, both shattering glass nearby. A police Sergeant returned fire, hitting the alleged gunman, who was later pronounced dead.

    A local TV station reports shots were fired and at least one person is injured near the Marriott Marquis Hotel on 46th Street in the Times Square area of Manhattan.

    Police evacuated the usually crowded pedestrial mall area fpr several blocks. This is one of the most crowded areas of New York City, specially during the lunch hours.

    I was out to lunch and took these photos of the scene around Times Square.
